I think our lean Steak mince makes it though.

Tasty Rice with Meat and Vegetables

Makes 8 Portions:
1/2 Onion, peeled and finely chopped
65g / 2 1/2 oz carrot, finely chopped
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 small garlic clove, crushed
227g/8oz Lean Minced Beef
400g/14oz canned chopped tomatoes
a few drops of Worcestershire sauce

Rice:
50g/2oz basmati rice
300ml/10 fl oz chicken stock
1/2 small red pepper, deseeded and finely chopped
50g/2oz frozen peas

Rinse the rice and place in a saucepan with chicken stock. Bring to the boil, then cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add the red pepper and cook, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Add the peas and continue to cook for 2 minutes, or until the rice is tender and there is no liquid left.

Meanwhile saute the onion and carrot in the vegetable oil for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add the minced meat and cook, stirring, until browned. Transfer the meat into a food processor and chop for 30 seconds to make it easier for your baby to chew. Return the meat to the pan and add the tomatoes and Worcestershire sauce. Cook over a low heat for 10 minutes. Stir in the rice with vegetables and cook for 3-4 minutes.

This recipe has come from:
Annabel Karmel's
New Complete Baby and Toddler Meal Planner

This is must buy book if you have children and can be purchased at most book stores.

By: James Morgan

American Recipes

Interested in some great recipes from America. It registers in seconds, but is not heat resistant so it cannot be left in food while it cooks. Insert the thermometer horizontally into the centre of steaks and burgers to check the internal temperature.

Check steaks visually
The doneness of steaks also can be determined visually by making a small cut near the centre with a sharp knife and checking the colour. For bone-in steaks, make a small cut near the bone.

Raw - uncooked. Unless making steak tartar or carpaccio, raw meat is generally not eaten or ordered in restaurants.

Blue - inside is red and cool as it will be almost raw cooked but the outside will be hot. Cooking time: 1-2 minutes each side. Resting time is about 9 minutes. Temperature should be be approximately 130° F, 55° C

Rare - red inside with plenty of red juices running freely. The outside is grey-brown and the middle of the steak is warm. Cooking time: 2-3 minutes each side. Resting time is about 8 minutes. Temperature should be approximately 140° F, 60° C

Medium rare - as rare, but with few free-flowing juices and still red in the very middle of the steak. The outside is grey-brown. Cooking time: 3-4 minutes each side. Resting time about 7 minutes. Temperature should be approximately 145° F, 63° C

Medium - pink in the middle with juices. The outside is grey-brown. Cooking time: 4-5 minutes each side. Resting time is about 6 minutes. Temperature should be approximately 160° F, 71° C

Medium well - the meat is grey-brown or deep pink throughout, still juicy. Cooking time: 5-6 minutes each side. Resting time is about 5 minutes. Temperature should be approximately 165° F, 74° C

Well done - the meat is grey-brown throughout and slightly blackened or charred, but flesh still clear and juicy. Cooking time: 6-7 minutes each side. Resting time is about 4 minutes. Temperature should be approximately 170° F, 77° C

Very well done - the meat is beige in the middle, not a lot of juices remaining. Cooking time: 7-8 minutes each side. Resting time is about 3 minutes. If we all stopped wasting food that could have been eaten, it would have the same environmental impact as taking 1 in 5 cars off UK roads. lovefoodhatewaste.com has lots of delicious recipes to use up leftovers, handy hints and tips for storing food to make it last longer, a portion calculator to help you cook the right amount, and information on what food date labels mean. There is something for everyone, whether you are a keen cook, or simply want to reduce the amount of food which you throw away.

By: James Morgan

Posh are going Stilton Crazy

For all our customers that are Peterborough based.

Peterborough United first team players are now buying there meat from Stilton Butchers.
